Vertical cuts around the tire circumference

Long vertical lines running around the tire surface that appear as if the tire is splitting apart are, in fact, thin marks caused by normal use and friction with the road surface or other objects.
This condition can generally be classified into two cases.

Case 1 : Separation marks on the tire compound

For many motorcycle tire models from Pirelli, the tire consists of two different compounds within a single tire.
In some new models, this can be clearly observed by the difference in color between the compounds, while in others, the transition is so smooth that it’s barely noticeable.

In this case, tire wear from regular use is completely normal. However, on some occasions, when riding on the road, small stones or sharp objects may cut exactly along the joint line between the two compounds.

Combined with the fact that the side compound is usually softer than the center compound and therefore wears faster, the separation line may appear more visible.

This type of mark is not dangerous — it is merely a normal trace resulting from regular use of the tire.

Case 2 : Deep scratch marks

Prevention: Regularly check your tire pressure and avoid riding with underinflated tires. Low tire pressure can cause the tire structure to become too soft, increasing the risk of cracking or tearing. It is also advisable to avoid riding over curbs or reflective road markers.
