Caused by riding over sharp foreign objects or hard objects on the road surface, such as sharp rocks, glass shards, metal debris, manhole cover edges, or nails.
When the high-speed rotating tread crushes or violently impacts these sharp objects, the pressure and shear forces slice through the outermost rubber layer (Tread Compound), causing tearing wounds or missing rubber chunks.
Wounds and tears of this nature are classified as Road Hazards, which are accidents and direct external factors from usage. They are not caused by defects in the tire compound or manufacturing process from the Pirelli factory; therefore, the product is not covered by the warranty policy.
If a cut or torn rubber is detected, promptly take the vehicle to a Pirelli service center or authorized dealer so that a specialist technician can thoroughly evaluate the depth of the wound.
If the wound depth is limited only to the outer rubber layer and does not reach the internal casing plies or steel belts, the tire can continue to be used normally. However, the rider must regularly observe and inspect the wound to see if it widens or begins to leak air.
If the wound is deep enough to expose the internal steel belts or casing plies, or if a large tear is found on the sidewall, the tire should be replaced immediately. The main structure for supporting weight and air pressure is compromised, risking a tire blowout if forced to operate at high speeds.
Avoid riding through areas with debris, broken bricks, or construction zones, and reduce speed when driving on damaged roads to lessen the severity of potential impacts.
