Uneven tread wear around the tire circumference, where tread blocks wear down at alternating high and low levels, creating a saw-tooth or scalloped appearance along the tread grooves or shoulders.
When tire pressure is low or weight load is excessive, the tire's contact patch will experience excessive flexing as the wheel rotates and contacts the road surface. This results in uneven distribution of pressure and friction across the tread, crushing the tread blocks and forcing them to wear unevenly into scallops around the tire.
This pattern of wear is a direct consequence of external factors and operational behavior (neglecting to maintain tire pressure and control weight load). It is not caused by any defect in the tire compound or the manufacturing process from the Pirelli factory; therefore, the product is not covered by the warranty policy.
Regularly check and adjust tire pressure according to the standards specified in the motorcycle manual at least once a week (checking while tires are cold), and increase tire pressure to specification when carrying a passenger or heavy luggage.
If tire pressure is regularly maintained but the symptom persists, it is recommended to additionally check the suspension system (front and rear shock absorbers). A worn-out or expired shock absorber is another contributing factor that causes scalloped tire wear.
