Sidewall cut

A cut or slash around the tire, or a circular tear, indicates that it's time to replace your tire. Such damage usually occurs when the tire has been subjected to excessive load.

The first cause is underinflation, which is also the main reason tires deteriorate prematurely. When there isn't enough air pressure to support the load, the tire's structure is forced to bear the weight instead. As the underinflated tire is repeatedly compressed against the rim while rolling on the road, then rebounds as the wheel turns, this constant flexing causes the sidewall to tear away from the internal structure, leading to serious damage.

Another possible cause is overloading. If a rider carries more weight than the tire is designed to handle—such as traveling with excessive luggage—it can produce similar damage to the tire's sidewall.

The preventive measure is for riders to check the motorcycle's user manual to know the correct tire pressure and the maximum load capacity. This ensures both the motorcycle and tires perform optimally. However, if such damage occurs, you should consult a skilled technician and Replace the tire immediately..
